"As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one
another as
good stewards of the manifold grace of God." (1 Peter 4:10 (NASB))
" . . .
so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity
in the
faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become
mature, attaining to
the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." (Ephesians 4:12b-13 (NIV))
Sunday School - Children’s Church
The
Cornerstone Community Baptist Church Sunday School Program offers a
complete program from nursery through adult. The Children’s
Ministries program also includes Sunday Children's Church as well as
Vacation Bible School during the summer months.
The
mission of the Sunday School is as follows:
To
teach the existence and truth of God's Word, the Bible.
To
teach the salvation message and the personal nature of one's
commitment to Jesus Christ.
To
teach how to live, grow, and serve in this world as a member of the
family of God.
Sunday School classes are held each
Sunday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Currently classes are
grouped as follows: 2 Year Olds, 3 Year Olds to
Kindergarten, First & Second Grade, Third & Fourth
Grade, Fifth & Sixth Grade, Seventh through Ninth
Grades, Tenth through Twelfth Grades and Adult.
Sunday Children's (Junior)
Church is held during the main Worship Service for grades K
through Four with a worship service geared toward their age
group. It enriches them by introducing biblical themes, prayer,
music, and activities preparing them for participation in the main
worship service.
All of the Children’s Ministries
programs rely on the concept of partnering. Partnering with male and
female leaders are the preferred teaching staff (though not
required) for each class. This approach is designed to reinforce
the family teaching of the Bible and to provide male and female
leadership wherever possible.
Currently openings in the
Children's Sunday School exist for substitute teachers only.
Openings do exist in the Children's (Junior) Church program,
the nursery and Vacation Bible School.
Nursery (Cribs & Crawlers and Walkers)
Cornerstone provides a nursery for ages 0-3 years during
Sunday
School and Worship. Our qualified staff will welcome and care for
your little ones. This is a great opportunity to minister to the
young families in our church. It allows them the time to be
refreshed in the Word and encouraged by others as they partici pate
in Sunday School and the Worship service. It also
provides a time of love and learning for the children, as they
experience your care for them during their time in the nursery and
with the lesson that is taught that corresponds to what is being
taught in the Sunday School classes.
Club 56
Club 56 meets bi-weekly on the 1st and 3rd Friday evenings from 7:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Club 56 meets to provide fifth and sixth graders
fellowship and sharing. The program looks into God’s Word and is
designed to strengthen the Christian education program for this age
group as it begins the transition into high school.
Community Groups
At Cornerstone church, our small
group ministry focuses on drawing closer to each other in Christian
fellowship as we draw closer to God through prayer and studying His
Word. The community groups will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday or
Thursday night of the month and have approximately 10 –15 people in
each group. Some of the groups will have facilities for children
while others will be for adults only. Each group will decide on a
topic or text to study. The meetings will be comprised of a time of
praising the Lord in song, a time of sharing & prayer, Bible study
and a time of fellowship.
Women‘s Ministry
The purpose of the Women's Ministry is to develop women who love God
and
serve Him with all their heart. It is our desire that all of the
women
of Cornerstone feel connected and encouraged as they find their
place of
service. Our current ministries include: Women's Accountability
Groups, Women's
Morning Bible Study, Women's
Evening Bible
Study and Service Projects. There are
special fellowship events planned for every other month. Check the
church calendar for dates and the bulletin for details on upcoming
events. Additionally, the annual retreat at Harvey Cedars in June
and the Women of Faith Conference offer times of spiritual renewal.
Women's
Morning Bible Study
The Thursday Morning interactive
Bible study with Beth Moore, "Jesus, The One and Only" currently
meets at the Church every Thursday mornings starting at 9:15 a.m.
and ending approx. 11:30 a.m. Child care is provided.
Women’s Evening Bible Study
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and that it
is a living testament to His faithfulness and love. It is both as
fresh as morning and as timeless as eternity. Therefore, when we
encounter daily problems and joys, we can look to the Bible to put
things into true perspective. We do not want to base our lives on
fallible and changeable human opinion, but on the words of the True
Author and Creator. It is for this reason that the ladies of
Cornerstone have met since our church began in September of 1996 to
systematically study what God’s Word can tell us about living our
lives today. This year we will be using the Women of Faith Series
Study Guide on "Discovering God's Will for Your Life" to understand
one of life's mysteries. If you would like to join our "Fellowship
of Seekers", please join us at 7:00 p.m. on the second and fourth
Monday of each month from September to May at Cornerstone Church.
Men’s Ministry
The purpose of the men's ministry
at Cornerstone Church is to draw men into a deeper relationship with
their Lord and their fellow brothers in Christ. In order to help
facilitate this, the men meet monthly at the church building for
breakfast, study, worship, and fellowship. Also, we have a yearly
men's retreat and other fellowship activities that will give men the
opportunity to grow in their faith and invite their unchurched
friends. For those who are seeking to be challenged toward greater
spiritual depth we offer participation in a "Life
Transformational Group." These groups of two to three men will
meet regularly for
accountability with Scripture reading, memorization, prayer,
evangelism, and issues of sin. Men, come and grow with us in the
grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Men’s Retreat
In October, the men of Cornerstone
participate in a weekend retreat at a Christian camp with other men
from area evangelical churches. This is a great time to get away and
hear a speaker teach God’s Word, praise God in times of worship and
to get to know each other in a closer way. Our hope is that men will
come away refreshed spiritually and eager to develop a deeper walk
with Jesus Christ.
Youth Ministry
The J-Crew (The Jesus Crew; Cornerstone's Youth Group) exists to reach
believing and non-believing students, to connect them with other
Christians, to help them grow in their faith, and to challenge the
growing to discover their ministry and honor God with their life.
The J-Crew meets weekly for fellowship, Bible study and outings such
as bowling, hiking, and miniature golf. Each February we travel to
upstate New York for a winter retreat, and in June we attend Creation,
a Christian music festival held in Mt. Union, PA.
Prayer Team Ministry
The original prayer team ministry
began on November 11, 1999. It consisted of twelve people who made a
commitment to pray at least one hour per week for the needs of our
church and its people. Presently the team has grown to over
twenty-one individuals. Prayer requests can be made in several
different ways: Sunday Morning Prayer Cards,
E-mail, Phone Call or Verbally to the
Pastor. A prayer
chain has also been established in order to meet situations of a
critical nature that may require immediate prayer. The goal of the
prayer ministry is first of all to pray. Second, to encourage others
to pray. Third, to develop an intimate relationship with Jesus
Christ through the ministry of prayer.
On the First and Third Wednesdays of the month, all are welcome to our
"Fresh Encounters" at the church. This is a time in which we gather to sing
songs of worship to our Heavenly Father. We offer up our Praise &
Thanksgiving to Him and lift up the ministry of the church (each
specifically), as well as the needs of the Congregation &
Community.
Missions Team
The missions committee meets to
evaluate missionaries to recommend for church support, plans
evangelical mission outreaches for church participation and plans
the direction of missions for
Cornerstone
Church. The committee meets once a month and is made up of people
who have a heart for missions.
Music Ministry
The music ministry at Cornerstone
exists to magnify God's name by helping worshippers celebrate God's
presence in their lives. Opportunities to serve in this area include
helping to lead Sunday morning worship, ministering through special
music, and singing in the choir and small ensembles.
Greeter Ministry
This ministry is a commitment to greet people at the door with a
warm smile, give them a program, direct them to childcare or
whatever they may need and help late comers find a seat. It is
important that those who come through the doors of our church feel
welcome here as we seek to minister to them through our worship
service and Sunday School classes.
Usher Ministry
Interested in helping out during the service? The usher ministry is
one way to get involved. It involves collecting the gifts and tithes
that we give back to the Lord and to make a record of those who
attend the service.
Cleaning Ministry
This ministry is a commitment to clean the church prior to Sunday
morning service. Cleaning the Lord’s house is an often overlooked but
extremely important ministry. First impressions say much about a
church. We want those who worship with us to know that we honor the
Lord by respecting His house and having a clean church does much to
support our respect of God’s house.
Fellowship Ministry
The fellowship ministry is for promoting a social time for people
who attend Cornerstone. We offer events to get to know people
outside the Sunday service. Plans call for several events throughout
the year, including an Annual Picnic at Beltzville State Park,
Christmas Caroling, Valentine's Day Dinner and more. Planning
meetings are held periodically and everyone is welcome to attend. We
also welcome ideas!
C.A.R.E.S. Ministry
The C.A.R.E.S. (Care and Relief
Enabling Services) Ministry, under the leadership of the board
of deacons, serve as ministers of mercy, providing comfort,
encouragement and direct assistance to members in need. The
C.A.R.E.S. Ministry is carried out in a godly, loving manner,
demonstrating love through action, as commanded by the Holy
Scriptures. The C.A.R.E.S. Ministry consists of members who are
committed to helping those in need on behalf of Cornerstone
Community Baptist Church.
